holden and i are still in san diego and i'm pretty sure it's going to be hard to go back homeback on a flight to go home. we spend a lot of time in san diego, but now that the weather has warmed up and holden is older, it's easy to see why everyone wants to live here. holden usually stays close to me when we're out and about, but down here, he is completely independent, spending hours exploring playgrounds, mingling with other children, splashing in the water, and digging in the sand, while i sit and watch from afar. our days have been jam packed, and his naps are long and restful. and since we've been down here it's as though he has suddenly gained a tremendous amount of self confidence, even leaving to go with a family friends down the hall of my mother-in-law's elementary school without even bothering to wave goodbye to me (something he has never done with someone he has first met). guess there is something in that san diego air that is just good for us.
