"Life was meant for good friends and great adventures" A few friends had been asking us to join them for a day at Goat Island Marine Reserve and when we found out it was a site for the Toyota Kiwi Guardian Programme, the kids couldn't wait for the adventure and chance to earn a medal. We printed maps and the boys decided what parts they would explore: the older boys swam out to the seaweed forest and all the way to the island to check out the colourful caves and the younger boys took snorkeled along the reef and went tide pooling on the rocky shore. Everyone found and saw new things, learning about different sea creatures and overcoming fears (like swimming with giant stingrays) along the way.
