we got the opportunity to look after an aunt's ranch for the weekend while they were out of town and we immediately jumped at the chance. i think every mother has some sort of fantasy about living on a farm with her little ones, there's something so appealing about wide open spaces for little ones to explore and run wild that is ever enticing for mamas.
we had such a fun time and holden couldn't have been happier. he made snow angels in the horse ring, spent an hour sorting rocks and hay between 3 different buckets, searched for ladybugs, helped feed all of the animals (which he was so incredibly proud of), and kept himself busy for the majority of time we were there by the simplest of things.
and although it seemed like the perfect place for a little boy, ranch life is work! we were tasked with just a small portion of the chores (because i was intent on seeing what ranch life was really like) and it was no small feat. i never realized just how much work went into living on a ranch. and i also realized i don't really own any ranch-apporpriate attire.
so i think for now, we'll keep the ranch for the weekends.
