Although I offer web design services , I can never design for myself. I have the hardest time narrowing what I like into one cohesive design so when I started thinking about changing the blog's name, I knew I needed to find someone to create a logo for me. I worked with Angela of Saffron Avenue to come up with the Bel & Beau logo and I honestly can not say enough good things about her. She is crazy talented (the "bel" in the logo is her handwriting!) and she had the logo done in no time. After creating a pinterest board filled with inspiration for the logo, Angela created this branding board which was everything I could have hoped for and more.
Why the name change?
When I initially started HoldenOnBaby, it was a private space to chronicle my life as a first-time mother. As all mothers know, every single moment with your little one seems to fly by in the blink of an eye and it feels as though is impossible to store every little memory in your head. When Holden was a few months old, a friend of mine started a 365 project with her little one, sharing an image and memory every single day on Facebook, and it inspired me to create a blog where I could document Holden's first year. The majority of my family lives halfway across the world in New Zealand and Australia, so after a few months I made the blog public so that I could share Holden's life with them and it quickly grew from there.
Motherhood is where I really found myself and this space slowly morphed into my creative place where I could share my passion for fashion, design, and photography, and a little less about Holden's daily milestones (don't worry I still document those privately). And so the name HoldenOnBaby, didn't seem to quite fit this space anymore and after months of yearning for something that felt a little more "me", Bel & Beau was born.
What does Bel & Beau mean?
I wanted to come up with a name that really resonated with this space and my new skirt collection. At this time in my life, I have been focusing on finding the beauty, glamour, and elegance in the everyday - curating that one beautiful life that I want to live. I also wanted to incorporate my name, Isobel, somehow and of course, include the little man too....which is how we came to Bel & Beau. Bel & Beau is a play on the french words for beautiful (belle) and handsome (beau).
So what's changed?
Although I loved my old design, I felt like I needed a fresh face to go along with the new name so I came up with a design and Mr. B helped me bring it to life (thank goodness for a hubby with web development skills). You will start to see some new regular features and what I'm most excited about is the brand new shop page. For the last couple of months, I have been designing a skirt collection for women and girls and I am so happy that they are finally available for purchase, just in time for the holiday party season.
Please take a look around!!
You can check out some of the new pages and posts and the new shop filled with Bel & Beau skirts! I will be adding lots of new posts, including a few from some lovely contributors over the next couple of days, as well as adding a few additional pages and design elements, so come back often!!
THANK YOU so much for all of your support and encouragement that you have given me along the way. It truly means the world to me!
